Current Mood: grieving
Our beautiful little princess, Poesie Meisje, died today at 4:30pm. She had become so weak, couldn't eat and couldn't walk very well, so we asked the vet to come here to euthanize her. She died very peacefully with hubby and I petting her. Our hearts are broken, we miss her terribly already and it's difficult to imagine life without her. She was a very special kitty.

Good rest, little Poesie. Be good, and watch over your mum and dad.

I'm sorry. I hope that thought that you gave her the very best life that you could and truly cared for her to the very last moment is of some comfort during this time.

Yes, we've been talking about her funny traits like barking like a dog, her tail straight up in the air like a "stok-staartje" and kicking her sister's ass all of the time.

Sorry to hear this - my own pets are such a big part of my heart, it tears me up when it's time to say goodbye.

Thanks...it is horrible especially when we had to make the decision to put her down...although she probably would have died within days anyway.

Thanks...it's so hard to imagine how it will feel until it happens. It was great that the vet came here. It made her last moments seem almost normal compared to the trauma she would have gone through had we taken her to his office.

I am very, very sorry to hear this. I can only guess how much it must hurt inside.

Undoubtedly she knows how much she was loved in this life and, I believe, her spirit will be waiting for you in the next one, too.

(I've told my Ani that she's stuck with me for Time and All Eternity. She's not very happy with that prospect -- at least on the surface)

Thank you for your kind words and yes, we're both still teetering on the edge of tears. I agree with you about her spirit waiting for us...We believe that she was much more than "just" a cat. She was a special spirit and quite unique. I've had cats all of my life and Poesie was a world apart from them.

Ani probably already intended to be stuck with you for Time and All Eternity...she's just letting you think that you came up with the idea!

Ani, I think, would cringe at the thought. (most of the time, at least)

Cats with deep spirits will always be with us, waiting for us, and complaining about the lousy food we're serving them and lack/too much attention we're giving them.

Peace.

Sandy,
I'm so sorry about Poesie Meisje. I'm crying for her with you. We've been in that situation a couple of times and it's hard. Even when you know it's for the best. Hugs to you both and a prayer for sweet Poesie.

Yes, even if your mind knows it's the right thing to do, it still breaks your heart. I believe she knows you were helping her.

*crying*

I'm so sorry to hear the news :(

*hugs* to you and Nem. I am thinking of both of you now.

You might take comfort in this, I always do http://www.petloss.com/poems/maingrp/rainbowb.htm.

Poesie was so very lucky to have you both in her life.

Thank you for thinking about us. We were all lucky to have each other. She is the one who brought Nem and I together in the first place. I haven't read the poem yet....I'm afraid of it for the moment since I still cry at the drop of a hat. I will read it when I feel a bit stronger.

What are friends for if not to keep each other in their thoughts at times like this.

She will always be with both of you. You just need to keep an open heart and an open mind to seeing her. When we were thinking of getting Daisy, I was worried that our last cat Polly would be upset, I had been thinking about her for days trying to work out if gettind Daisy was the right thing to do. Then one moring, half asleep, I walked to the bathroon. On my way there this shaddow passed me in the hall, tail up in that question mark fashion.

It was all I needed, I called the people and Daisy arrived a few days later.

The poem is sad but it's comforting to me beyond words. You will be strong one day I know that. Just don't let anyone tell you it's not the same as loosing a human. It is.
